The Parenting education Program provides in-home services to parents/families residing in Luzerne County, referred by Luzerne County Children and Youth, to prevent abuse, neglect, and possible dependency/placement of children outside their home. The program also assists in facilitating a smooth transition for children who had previously been placed and have an imminent date of return. These families may simultaneously be court ordered to attend. The program provided education designed to address the specific needs of the family as well as concerns identify by children and youth. Areas addressed may include, developmental stages, safety, bonding and attachment, communication, limit setting etc. The program goals are to enhance existing parental strengths and to develop knowledge and techniques that will strengthen parent’s protective capabilities and promote health interactions.
