To improve school attendance and success through the engagement of families. PASS (Parent and Students Succeed) is a community based, cross system program created to promote the reduction and prevention of truancy in Luzerne County. The program relies on the interaction with schools, community human service providers, Luzerne County court system, and the Department of Juvenile Probation. Referrals to the program will come from schools, the community and LCCYS’s screening department.
Program Mission:
• To improve school attendance, in conjunction with achievement of parent and student success.
• To strengthen the relationship between the student, family and school.
• To promote academic success of a student, while ensuring a cooperative relationship between the student, family and school.
• To provide an opportunity for collaboration with community service providers, child welfare agency, juvenile justice, and schools in promoting family engagement and improved student attendance and success.
• To prevent legal involvement in the child welfare agency through early identification and intervention.
