Description/Job Summary

Contracted service provider for Luzerne County Children and Youth Services; we work directly with LCCYS staff

In home service designed to prevent removal of children when there is a possible risk of removal

Services are provided approximately 2.5 hours per week for 12 weeks; optional additional 12-weeks for 1 hour bi-weekly

Service delivery is supportive and educational in nature

Goals of the program are to provide strategies for positive and effective parenting, understanding child development, effective decision-making, and improving familial relationships.  Life skills, such as budgeting, home conditions, employment, are also covered.



Responsibilities/Duties

  • Documentation of all client, collateral, supervision contacts
  • Maintain complete case records/client files
  • Complete necessary paperwork according to required time frames (case service plans, monthly provider reports, discharge summary)
  • Maintain a monthly billing sheet, monthly mileage log, and monthly client stats; attend the billing session at the beginning of each month
  • Provide direct in-home educational and supportive parenting services to families involved with the child welfare system
  • Be dedicated to preserving and strengthening families
  • Provide accurate and concise record keeping/documentation
  • Be willing to work a flexible schedule beyond traditional business hours
  • Other duties as assigned
 
 
 


Required Qualifications

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in social work or a related social service field and/or hold a certification as a parenting specialist; previous social work experience is preferred but not required
  • Possess a valid PA driver’s license and liability insurance
  • Pass PA Child Abuse, PA State Criminal, and FBI background checks
  • Bi-lingual preferred; not required
