Description/Job Summary

St Vincent de Paul Kitchen is searching for a full time cook to join our team!
  • Must be available days, evenings, holidays and weekends.
  • Must supervise volunteers 
  • Hours:
    • Tuesday 7am-2:30pm
    • Wednesday and thursday: 11am-6:30pm
    • Friday and Saturday: 7am-2:30pm

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Oversee day to day culinary operations
  • Coordinate food and kitchenware orders with Chef
  • Check freshness and quality of ingredients
  • Work with management to create a memorable experience for guests and clients
Daily Job Duties:
  • Preheat ovens as needed
  • Check inventory of any leftover items to be used
  • Begin preparation of entrees, vegetables and starches for lunch service
  • Inform all servers of proper portion sizes of items
  • Back up line with all items as needed
  • Begin prepping items as needed for dinner service and for next day's service
  • Be sure to label and date all items stored
  • Have volunteers wipe down all tables and chairs and stack chairs
  • Wipe down and sanitize all service and work areas
  • Check pot washing area to make sure all items are washed and sinks are drained
  • Turn off all ovens and exhaust fans
  • Check that all bathrooms are empty
  • Check that all cooler doors are closed
  • Check that all exterior exit doors are closed tightly
  • Mop floors at the end of service

Required Qualifications

  • 3 years experience in catering business preferred
  • Passion for food and cooking techniques
  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • PA State Police, ChildLine, and FBI background checks prior to beginning employment
  • VIRTUS (employer provided) training
